PENCIL BOX Stay on the Road Trace and Wipe Cards for Pencil Grasp and Fine Motor Skills. Work on eye hand coordination and tracing skills to develop pencil grasp. Help improve handwriting skills and fine motor skills. Easy center time set up in pencil boxes. Use as individual printable pages with a pencil, or laminate and use with dry erase markers. Place in a pencil box for easy set up for centers, classroom work bins, or for therapy for occupational therapy.
24 Stay on the Road Cards (2 to a page). Print, laminate and store in a pencil box with a pencil or several pencils for center activities. An instructor can also just print the activitieson paper, and have students trace with a pencil. Students place a tripod grip on a pencil, and then use their fingers with isolated finger movement, to trace the patterns. This activity teaches students to change direction when they trace. It promotes isolated finger movement and practices coloring from large to small. Ultimately, it promotes students printing and writing letters, using dynamic control of a pencil.
TIP grip training sheets are included, if you have students who need to develop a tripod grasp. Particularly look at the last joint of the thumb – it should be bending and pointing (flexing and extending) to move the pencil as the students do these pencil power warm ups. Teach students to move their fingers, and to keep the paper at a slant while tracing, similar to how they would hold when writing. (Right handers the slant points with the top left corner slanting inward. Left handers the slant points with the top right corner slanting inward). Short, quick activities to keep students attention. You can also look at the TIP grip warm-ups video on TPT – TIP grip video to show you how to use the TIP grip.
This activity also comes with pencil box labels for the top, sides, and inside cover of the pencil boxes.
